NEXT GIG
Johnny Cass supported by Roddy Reason
Thursday 16th February 7.30-10.30
Johnny Cass is an experienced musician who has been playing music for audiences for 20 years. Johnny Cass has played alongside some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, Paul Weller, Diesel, Tony Joe White, Jeff Lang, The Backsliders, Chris Wilson, Don Walker, Baby Animals.
For the past little while Johnny has been busy working on a show called A Night at the Crossroads- Tribute to Robert Johnson. This show has played shows to capacity in Sydney and Melbourne. Johnny has assembled a cast of Australian blues royalty including Jeff Lang, Dom Turner(Backsliders), Ian Collard (Collard Greens and Gravy) as well as Kevin Bennett from The Flood. After collaborating with on stage and off with these great players Johnny is now taking his own songs and take on standards on the road.
Johnny digs deep into the Roots and Blues genre to deliver honest and heartfelt music that matters. JC’s interpretations of blues standards are reminiscent of recordings of Chess Records artists such as Muddy Waters & Howlin’ Wolf. The desperation and darkness of Robert Johnson is resurrected and revered with new takes on old songs.
Other artists that appear in JC’s repertoire are greats like Bruce Springsteen, The Band, Bob Dylan, The Black Crowes and Swamp Blues legends Creedence Clearwater Revival. All of this fits nicely into a professional set of great Country Blues Rock songs.

Jasmine Beth supported by Frank Sultana
March 1st 7:30-10:30
Jasmine Beth has the rare ability to tell a convincing story through her songs. Whether delivering a gritty Tom Waits style blues or a poetic ballad, she draws in her audiences with her fresh sound and sharp, original lyrics.
Jasmine's passion for music started with studying classical piano at the age of nine and spending hours lost in her parents' vinyl collection. As a teenager, she developed an eclectic range of tastes, listening to everything, from Chopin to the Bill Evans Trio to the great singer-songwriters of the '60s and '70s - Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits and James Taylor.
After working as a music journalist and having some success as a creative writer, Jasmine Beth picked up the guitar and started singing a few years later, while living in London.
Eight months afterwards, she played her first gig to an intimate crowd in an underground record store and acoustic club in London's South.
Since then, Jasmine's singing and songwriting have gained increasing critical and public attention and have been recognised through several awards. In 2010, she won Second Prize in both the Sydney Singer-Songwriter Competition and the Kommotion Singer-Songwriter Contest. In 2009, she won the Bermagui Seaside Music Competition and was invited to record at Pirate Studios. She was also a semi-finalist in the 2009 U.K. Songwriting Competition.
In the first half of 2011, Jasmine Beth played her debut gigs at Sydney's top acoustic venues, including The Basement, Lizotte's and 505. She then left home for a successful tour of the U.K.
In January, 2012, Jasmine Beth released her much-anticipated self-titled debut EP, which features five original tracks and a stellar cast of Sydney-based jazz musicians. On February 29th, she begins her EP launch tour and will be playing gigs all over Australia.
2012 is set to be an exciting year for this emerging singer-songwriter.
